Objectives of the Course The objective of this course is to enable students to acquire a thorough understanding of the analysis of linear time-invariant (LTI) dynamic lumped circuits in both the phasor domain and the complex frequency domain, as well as the characterization of such circuits within these domains.
Course Content This course begins with sinusoidal forcing functions, complex numbers, phasors, sinusoidal steady-state conditions, impedance, and admittance. Circuit theorems in the frequency domain—including Thévénin and Norton theorems, superposition, reciprocity, and maximum impedance matching—are thoroughly analyzed. Next, AC power calculations covering average real power, reactive power, and RMS values are examined. The second part explores exponential forcing functions, poles and zeros in the $s$-plane, determination of forced response using the system function, resonance, and reactance cancellation. The final section covers matrix methods in circuit analysis, magnetic coupling, mutual inductance, and ideal transformers.
