Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the role of electromechanical energy conversion in power systems, as well as proficiency in the operation, analysis, and design of magnetic circuits. Furthermore, the course aims to teach analysis methods for magnetically coupled circuits and to impart the fundamental principles of electromechanical energy conversion and the operation of related electromechanical devices.

Course Content
This course begins with electrical safety standards and the fundamentals of electromagnetic circuit analysis. It covers the properties of ferromagnetic materials (B-H curves, hysteresis, and eddy current losses), as well as the operating principles, equivalent circuits, and performance analysis of single-phase and three-phase transformers. The second part explores electromechanical energy conversion principles in linear and non-linear magnetic systems, including single- and multiply-excited translational and rotational systems. Additionally, the graphical construction and analysis of flux density waves from the air-gap MMF (magnetomotive force) wave in rotating machines are studied. The final section thoroughly covers Direct Current (DC) machinery theory, the operating principles of DC generators and motors, and speed control techniques for DC motors.
