Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to provide students with a fundamental theoretical and practical understanding of semiconductor devices, such as diodes and transistors, which constitute the core components of electronic circuits. To this end, students learn the analysis and design principles of semiconductor-based circuits—including amplifiers, clippers, and current sources—using DC and AC equivalent models and analysis techniques, reinforced through both theoretical instruction and laboratory applications.

Course Content
This course begins with an introduction to semiconductor materials, P-N junctions, and basic semiconductor physics. Equivalent circuit models of diodes, rectifier circuits (half-wave and full-wave), clipper and clamper circuits, and diode-based logic circuits are thoroughly analyzed. The second part covers the operating principles of Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs), DC biasing techniques, small-signal AC analysis methods, and practical BJT amplifier/switching applications. The final section explores Field-Effect Transistors, including the working principles and fundamental applications of JFET, MOSFET (Enhancement and Depletion types), and CMOS technology.
