Dersin Amacı - Belirsizlik ve rastgelelik hakkında bir anlayış kazandırmak
- Betimsel istatistik hakkında bir anlayış kazandırmak
- Olasılığın temel kavramlarını ve tanımlarını öğretmek
- Öğrencileri olasılık teorisinin araçları ve teknikleriyle donatmak
Dersin İçeriği İstatistik, problemler hakkında sayısal varsayımlarda bulunmak için veri kullanma sanatıdır. Tanımlayıcı istatistik, veri özetleme sanatıdır. Konular şunları içerir: histogram, ortalama, standart sapma, normal eğri, korelasyon. İstatistiksel muhakemenin çoğu olasılık teorisine dayanır. Konular şunları içerir: şans modelleri, beklenen değer, standart hata, olasılık histogram, normal eğriye yakınsama.

1 Günlük dilde anlatılan rastgele bir deneyin matematiksel modelini oluşturun; örnek uzayını, olayları, sonuçları ve olasılık atamasını olasılık teorisindeki bu terimlerin teknik anlamıyla tutarlı bir şekilde tanımlayın
2 Çeşitli olayların olasılıklarını hesaplamak için olasılık yasalarını uygulayın
3 Rastgele deneylerdeki belirli sayısal sonuçları ayrık/sürekli rastgele değişkenler olarak modelleyin ve olasılık kütle/yoğunluk fonksiyonlarını belirleyin
4 Gözlemlenen fenomenin olası açıklamaları olarak hipotezler formüle edin; en olası hipotezleri seçmek için olasılık teorisini uygulayın; karar vermede hata ve risk olasılığını değerlendirin
