Objectives of the Course
|
The objective of this course is to teach students the fundamental principles of linear economic models and demonstrate how these models are used to solve economic problems. Students will develop the ability to express economic theories in mathematical terms using linear models and analyze them to better understand economic phenomena. Furthermore, the course will highlight how linear models can provide insights into economic theories and policies.

|
Course Content
|
The course will begin with the basic components of linear economic models, focusing on how these models explain economic variables. Topics such as linear equations, matrix computations, and optimization techniques will be covered. Additionally, the course will explore the application of linear models in general equilibrium models, macroeconomic and microeconomic contexts, and real-world scenarios.

Course Methods and Techniques
|
Each lesson will begin with the instructor introducing you to the weekly course content. During the teaching process, lectures, question-answer, case study methods will be used, and group discussions will be included. Course Notes
|
-Course Duration and Entry/Exit to the Course- This course is conducted in class for three hours per week. The course will not be taught during the midterm week. In this context, the course will continue actively for 13 weeks. In case the time periods of the course coincide with official holidays and the academician's congress, seminar, etc. work coincides with the course days, a make-up will definitely be made. In addition, if deemed necessary, an additional course can be held.
-Attendance- If students will be absent due to illness or personal reasons, they must first share it with me. Attendance will be taken starting from the first week. Attendance is required for 70% of the courses. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will fail the course due to absence.
-Illness or Emergency Notification- You can call my office number to explain your illness or emergency situation. If you cannot reach me at that moment, you can send me an e-mail.
-Disabled Students- Hasan Kalyoncu University offers equal educational opportunities to its students with disabilities in both campus life and education, teaching and evaluation activities. Having a disability does not constitute a problem for you to pass this course. If you have a disability, please inform your department advisor. Your disability will be notified to me in a petition written through the department chair. For example, if you have a visual impairment, there is no problem with you using a voice recorder in my class. In addition, if you have a similar disability, you will be assigned a reader for your exams.
-Student Course Representatives- Two volunteer students will serve as course representatives throughout the semester. The faculty member will direct course presentations and different articles, etc. to the course representatives; the course representatives will be responsible for communicating them to the rest of the class.
-Course Materials- Questions will be asked on the topics you are responsible for, the topics covered in the course, and the books you have read in the quiz, midterm, and final exams. Therefore, read the books with understanding and follow the presentations carefully. Know that the faculty member is not required to share the course presentations.
-Participation- It was stated that the learning focus of the course is critical thinking. Therefore, asking questions, listening to and criticizing the ideas of others means participating in the course. Here are some suggestions on how you can participate in class: ? Prepare yourself by answering the questions in the weekly class flow. ? Bring thought-provoking questions to class discussions and ask your friends. ? Be sure to write important notes about class discussions in your notebooks. ? Discuss the books you read.
