Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the pharmacological properties of the drugs used in the treatment of diseases and thereby to acquire the basic knowledge and skills required in the selection and use of drugs.
Course Content General pharmacology covers the definition, scope, and subfields of pharmacology. In this context, drugs affecting the cardiovascular system include antiarrhythmics, antianginal drugs, and antihypertensive drugs. Adrenergic agonist and antagonist drugs are evaluated under the heading of autonomic nervous system drugs. Central nervous system drugs, in turn, provide the pharmacological regulation of this system. In addition, drugs affecting the respiratory system, digestive system drugs, endocrine system drugs, and urinary system drugs are among the important topics. Blood and hematopoietic system drugs affect blood production and function in the body. Chemotherapeutic drugs cover the antimicrobial agents used against infectious agents. Finally, dermatological and ophthalmic drugs include the topical and systemic treatment agents used in skin and eye diseases
Course Methods and Techniques Lecture (direct instruction), question-and-answer, discussion, case study analysis, group work, and brainstorming techniques are used.
