Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to enable individuals to learn basic, non-pharmacological first aid techniques—to be administered at the scene until a medical team arrives—for situations such as accidents or illnesses that endanger life or health, and to foster an awareness of occupational safety.
Course Content This course covers fundamental knowledge and practices in the field of occupational health and safety. The initial sections will address the history of occupational health and safety, key concepts, sources of hazards, psychosocial risks, and ILO conventions, as well as precautionary measures for disasters such as fires, earthquakes, and floods, and an introduction to first aid. Subsequent sessions will cover first aid methods for emergencies—including bleeding, shock, burns, frostbite, poisoning, and fractures, dislocations, and sprains—along with basic life support for adults, children, and infants, geriatric emergencies, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The course will conclude with patient transport techniques, a general review, and assessment
Course Methods and Techniques Lecture (direct instruction), question-and-answer, discussion, case study, group work, and brainstorming techniques are used.
