Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to teach students the principles of ECG recording, to introduce the cardiac conduction system and basic rhythm disorders, and to provide them with the skill to make a correct rhythm diagnosis in emergencies and determine the appropriate intervention by interpreting ECG findings.
Course Content Within the scope of the course, the definition of the ECG, recording indications, the use of the device and electrodes, the conduction system of the heart, and the placement of leads are addressed. ECG waves, segments and intervals, heart rate calculation, and normal sinus rhythm are evaluated. Atrial and ventricular rhythm disorders, conduction disorders, and brady- and tachyarrhythmias are examined; electrolyte disturbances, drug effects, artifacts, Holter ECG, and cardiac monitoring are evaluated. In addition, the ECG findings and clinical interpretations of hypertrophies, bundle branch blocks, acute coronary syndromes, and myocardial infarction are covered. The basic principles, indications, and safety precautions of external/temporary/permanent pacemaker applications, vagal maneuvers, defibrillation, and cardioversion are also addressed, thereby developing students ` skills in ECG interpretation and in approaching emergency cardiac conditions.
Course Methods and Techniques Lecture, question-and-answer, discussion, case study analysis, and demonstration techniques are used.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
NoLearning Outcomes
1 Explains the basic principles of the ECG; defines the ECG device, electrodes, leads, and the conduction system of the heart, and interprets the normal ECG and sinus rhythm.
2 Distinguishes bradycardia, tachycardia, atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, and conduction disorders on the ECG, and plans the appropriate patient approach.
3 Evaluates the ECG findings of hypertrophy, bundle branch blocks, acute coronary syndromes, myocardial infarction, and other cardiac diseases, and makes their clinical interpretation.
4 Explains electrolyte and drug effects, ECG artifacts, Holter ECG, and cardiac monitoring applications; performs rhythm monitoring in accordance with patient safety.
5 Explains the indications, basic principles, and safe application steps of pacemaker, defibrillation, and cardioversion applications; determines the appropriate approach in emergency cardiac rhythm disorders.
