Objectives of the Course This course aims to provide students with an understanding of the conceptual and theoretical foundations of international migration, its cause–effect relationships, and its legal framework; and to enable them to critically and solution-orientedly analyse current policy debates in light of data, theory, and law.
Course Content After introducing the core concepts and theories of international migration, the course examines the economic, political, social, and environmental determinants and impacts of migration. Within the legal framework, international refugee law, national legislation, and EU regulations are analysed. In the following weeks, current topics such as social cohesion, security, development, demography, media, and migration policies are studied. At the end of the term, policy analysis based on case studies and student presentations are conducted.
